Hi there! My name is Alexis Skopos, and I am a licensed mental health counselor in Florida.
Do you feel like you’re alone with no healthy outlet to help you cope with daily stress or other factors that may be negatively impacting your life? Are you dealing with relationship issues you don’t feel safe discussing with anyone else in your life? Are you seeking to deal with substance abuse problems but do not know where to begin? What if you have severe anxiety that prevents you from doing daily tasks?
I hear you.
I believe that mental health should be considered a critical part of one’s overall health and well- being. If someone is suffering mentally, their issues should never be overlooked or minimalized. We all know there is still a stigma surrounding mental health, but seeking help can save lives. I am dedicated to ensuring that I create a positive impact on all my clients, and I always keep an open mind to carefully listen to and address their needs.
I come from a Greek background and am passionate about the ancient Greek concept of
Sophrosyne, which focuses on improving one’s character and maintaining an upbeat sound of mind. The idea is to lead a well-balanced life and gain a sense of control rather than feeling like your life is spiraling and you don’t have access to the brakes or steering wheel. So that is my approach toward helping others achieve their goals and create new pathways in life to better themselves. We all need to take time for ourselves and connect with a sense of inner peace.
This is why I am passionate about my hobbies and love finding new and fun creative outlets to express my emotions and represent who I am as my own person. For example, I love candle making, resin art making, trendy makeup looks, and tattoos… I think I may have over one hundred tattoos altogether! I love the idea of self-expression and loving your own originality. I believe in the power of creativity, whether in music, art, dance, writing, or whatever brings you happiness. I also think using one’s imagination brings so much joy and inner peace. That’s why I love playing with dogs, games, swimming , and going to state springs in my spare time! I also love collecting plants, designing, laughing with friends and family, and seeking new adventures. To me, life is full of possibilities, and I try to relish each day to the fullest.
In terms of my background and experience, I graduated from Stetson University with a
bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s in clinical mental health counseling. I also have
experience working in residential units, crisis units, high schools, child welfare, and methadone clinics. Additionally, I have a background in case management, group counseling, and ABA (children with autism). I firmly believe in people using creative methods to express themselves and finding passions that benefit their mental health. I do not believe in judging others, as I have an open mind and love to hear interesting facts about new people I meet. So I welcome you and look forward to getting to know you better!
